The
fresh flower jewelry is a natural art elegance and a unique addition to
the boutique at House of Flowers…although not a local
artist, the flowers are handpicked and home grown in Mexico with lovely
flowers growing in every corner of a small yard. Papa tends
the flowers, mama runs the show and the six children make the jewelry.
The family harvests the tiny flowers and each jewelry piece
is then made with a tweezers and a careful eye. Each piece is
individually made and arranged. Along with the immediate
family there are now 12 nieces working on the flower jewelry and
continuing to create the most beautiful product of its kind.
Myriam
Reynolds
creates large, bold, energetic paintings in mixed media…My
paintings are best described as meditations on relationships and modern
life. The subjects of my paintings are my emotions that I
depict using bright, dramatic and contrasting tones. The
forms in my paintings are organic, full of life and are often
overlapping or in relationship.
Creating
art is my medicine. I make decisions and choices in my
painting by instinct not thought. My paintings are the
containers of what is on my mind. I work quickly and often on
multiple images at the same time. I don’t labor
over my paintings but rather produce automatic images to process
through the emotional material and release it in a more polished and
refined form. The concepts in my work reveal themselves as I
create and are not always conscious at the beginning of the painting.
My intention is for the viewer to relate to my work emotionally,
spiritually and aesthetically.
My
greatest influences include Friedensreich Hundertvasser, Wassily
Kandinsky, and the Mexican crafts I saw in my formative years in
Mexico. Kandinsky in particular, as well as being an
accomplished technical artist, used art as an expression of the
spiritual and wrote about it extensively.
Nora
Derrick has
been living in Colorado for 27 years with her husband Don and dog
Sadie. She has been making a living as artist “Princess
Nora” for the past 13 years hand-painting whimsical
functional table-wear. She has also added to her Princess Nora lines,
designing and making jewelry the last three years. Nora is very excited
about the new gallery line of jewelry she is currently making with tons
of lavish beads and the variety of colors. Jewelry has been such a
great expression of art and individuality. It has also been a challenge
to create jewelry that appeal to many different
people……Her other interests include family,
music, reading, laughing, painting, spending time with friends, and
travel.
Rob
Little
as fortunate enough to be born and raised in Zimbabwe in
southern Africa, and this resulted in his first appreciation of nature
and landscapes. After leaving Africa in 1999, he lived in England for 5
years before moving to and settling in Colorado. He says, "One of the
finest aspects of living across 3 continents is you get to appreciate
the unique landscapes of each area."
Although he has always been interested in photography, he initially
became interested in watercolor painting, which remains a pursuit. He
says, "I think my experiences in painting have inspired me to shoot
photographs with the goal of matching the deliberate compositional
aspects of landscape
paintings. My first love in photography is landscape, particularly
around
the margins of the day, though I also enjoy experimenting with close up
macro photography.
